DISCOVERED THE WORLD'S LARGEST DINOSAUR

Scientists have found the bones of creatures in Argentina, which is considered the world's largest dinosaur . According to the measurements of its giant femurs, his height was 20 meters, and the length of 40 meters. Paleontologists believe that this is a new titanosaur - a group of dinosaurs sauropods other than a long neck and tail and a small head that lived during the Cretaceous period. Weight dinosaur was about 77 tons, the equivalent weight of 14 elephants. This is 7 tons heavier than the record holder in the weight category - Argentinosaurus.

Scientists from the Museum of Paleontology excavated and found seven skeletons of dinosaurs, only 150 bones .

" Given the size of these bones, which exceeds the amount of any previously known giant animals, we can say that the new dinosaur - it is the largest animal on Earth hodivshee "- said researcher Dr. Jose Luis Karballido (Jose Luis Carballido) and Dr. Sex Diego (Diego Pol).

Scientists have yet to name a creature that lived in the forests Pantagonii between 95 and 100 million years ago.

The biggest dinosaurs

Size - one of the most interesting aspects of the science of dinosaurs. However, it is also the subject of much scientific debate.
Many dinosaurs were included in the list of the biggest, if they have been formally described. Furthermore, assessment of weight can vary greatly as compared with the length as it is easier to determine the length extinct animals than their weight.

Spinosaurus - the largest predator
spinozavr.jpg
Spinosaurus is the largest carnivorous animals that lived on Earth. According to various estimates of its size ranged from 12.6 to 18 meters long, 5 meters in height and weight from 7 to 20 tons.
Argentinosaurus - the largest sauropod

Argentinosaurus is the largest herbivorous dinosaurs, whose length reached 30-35 meters and a weight of 60 to 100 tons.
Zavroposeydon - the highest sauropod
zavroposeidon.jpg
Although it weighs 50-60 tons zavroposeydon considered the highest dinosaur with growth of about 18 meters.
Shantungozavr - the largest hadrosaur

Shantugozavr was one of the largest hadrosaurs or "duckbilled dinosaurs", weighing up to 15 to 50 tons and a length of 13-15 meters.

Extinct Monsters

Great Ground-Sloth of South America, Megatherium americanum

Great Ground-Sloth of South America, Megatherium americanum

"The historian or the antiquary may have traversed the fields of ancient or of modern battles, and may have pursued the line of march of triumphant conquerors, whose armies trampled down the most mighty kingdoms of the world. The winds and storms have utterly obliterated the ephemeral impressions in their course. Not a track remains of a single foot or a single hoof of all the countless millions of men and beasts whose progress spread desolation over the earth.

But the reptiles that crawled upon the half-finished surface of our infant planet have left memorials of their passage, enduring and indelible. Centuries and thousands of years have rolled away, between the time in which these footsteps were impressed upon the sands of their native Scotland, and the hour when they were again laid bare and exposed to our curious and admiring eyes.

Yet we behold them stamped upon the rock, distinct as the track of the passing animal upon the recent snow; as if to show that thousands of years are but as nothing amidst eternity, and, as it were, in mockery of the fleeting perishable course of the mightiest potentates among mankind."

[Professor William Buckland* in an address to the Geological Society; sometime before 1856]
